Spring has (officially) sprung and we're really excited to share all the wonderful social clubs we have coming up this month.
Escape the dreaded (and inevitable) April showers ☔️ and join us for everything from a Cooking Club in Hulme, a Ceilidh in Collyhurst or our Easter Party in Ancoats, complete with an egg hunt.
The time and friendship our volunteers give at our social clubs is what makes our community network brilliant, and means so much to your older neighbours from across the city.
They're always telling us that the main reason they're motivated to leave the house and come along to our social clubs is because they get to meet their younger neighbours, like you.
Monday 1 April, 6.30-8pm: Desert Island Discs – ANCOATS
Like the radio show of its namesake, come and share a song and why it’s meaningful to you. This month our theme is Feel Good Anthems!
Tuesday 9 April, 6-8.30pm: Film Night – MILES PLATTING
Join us for a film, some popcorn and a catch up. This month we’ll be watching Bohemian Rhapsody – a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury.
Thursday 11 April, 1-3pm: Song Writing Workshop – MOSS SIDE
Join musicians from the Camerata Orchestra at this new series of exciting workshops that will introduce you to making music and writing songs. No musical experience needed – just a great chance to have fun and try something new!
Saturday 13 April, 1-3pm: Easter Party – ANCOATS
Come along and get to know your younger neighbours at our Easter get-together. There’ll be a fun quiz, prizes, refreshments and even an egg hunt!
Thursday 18 April, 5.30-7.30pm: Dance Club: Ceilidh!- MILES PLATTING/COLLYHURST
Join older neighbours for a Ceilidh, back by popular demand! No experience needed, and if you’d prefer to just come and soak up the atmosphere that’s fine too.
Friday 26 April, 1-3pm: Cooking Club – HULME
Join older neighbours to cook up some tasty treats in the kitchen. All materials will be provided but let us know in advance if you have any dietary requirements - and bring along a Tupperware to take the delicious food home if you have one!
Tuesday 30 April, 5-7pm: Pub Quiz – ANCOATS
Join us for our popular pub quiz. Teams will be formed on arrival – just bring yourselves and your competitive edge.
Wednesday 1 May, 3-4.30pm: Chair Based Exercise for Women – LONGSIGHT
Come along to meet some new friends and take part in some simple chair-based exercise routines. At the moment this club is for women only.
We've got 4 inductions coming up. Head to www.manchestercares.org.uk/get... to sign up to volunteer with us!
