Manchester Cares Community Network neighbour, friend and Quiz-extraordinare Ged chats about his experience being part of the online activities during lockdown!
Well, if not, then you have been missing out on fun times with our “extended family” Manchester Cares, who, through these extraordinary times, have been keeping spirits up by offering the above activities (and much more). Avoiding isolation and keeping mental and physical wellbeing in check is important, especially at this time. Manchester Cares is a thriving organisation, increasing in popularity, and has been offering a much needed and welcome benefit to the over 65s in the Manchester area for over two and a half years.
Younger professional volunteers are integrated with those “young at heart” to join in fun activities, chat and learn from each other. It is amazing how younger you feel, and the volunteers gain knowledge of past times which can be quite an eye-opener!
Recently, Manchester Cares have set up “Zoom” sessions on computer, laptop, tablet or phone where members can see and communicate with others on-screen, whilst not being able to physically meet up at the moment. Many activities and chats have been successful this way (see heading above!), also by “phone-in” specials for those not having Zoom capabilities.
Now here’s a word you’ll enjoy, it’s all FREE
Other services are offered by Manchester Cares, so have a good chat with the friendly staff…they are there to help…and they will!
If you are over 65 and would like to join in, have fun and chat to other people, then get in touch with Manchester Cares on 0161 207 0800 and speak to AMY about how to get started…you won’t regret it.
