Face to Face Clubs, A Virtual Music Festival and A Windrush Day Party, there’s plenty to get involved with this June!

June is finally here, meaning two things, not only is it the beginning of Summer but our face-to-face clubs are back! It’s been over a year since we’ve been able to meet up together outside and inside and now we can do both, and we’re very excited to be seeing our older and younger neighbours again soon!

Face-to-face clubs will be taking place as well as our virtual social clubs and we’ve got everything from A Windrush Party, dancing the night away to our Virtual Music Festival, Glastonbury Unplugged Live Lounge, to Ged’s Fabulous Quiz. Check out the full list below:

If you are yet to join us and would like to sign up as a volunteer, head to www.manchestercares.org.uk/get... or give us a call on 0161 207 0800.

👥 Face-to-face clubs: These will be taking place face-to-face around Manchester, in small, socially distanced, safe groups. You must book your place- do not turn up if you haven’t booked.

🎦Video clubs: Join clubs with this computer symbol on a laptop, smartphone or tablet with internet access – you just need to download Zoom to take part.

📞 Phone In Clubs: Join clubs with this phone symbol on your landline or mobile. It’s free and your number won’t be shared with anyone. All you need to do is call Heather, tell her you’d like to take part and she will set it all up for you, you just need to wait by your phone for it to ring at the time of the club!

We’ll be hosting multiple 1-hour slots at each face-to-face Social Club, speak to Heather to find out the exact timings of each slot and book your space!

During this fascinating club, our friends from Generation Investment Management (founded by Al Gore) will be leading a laid back session on what climate change actually means and the small things we can do that make a big difference. There will be lots of time for discussion, and the GIM team will be answering any questions and concerns you might have. 🎦 Tuesday 22nd June, 5.30-7pm: Windrush Day Party, 22 June 2021 will mark the fourth national Windrush Day and 73 years since the SS Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks in Essex in 1948 carrying the first Caribbean migrants to the UK to help rebuild Britain after the Second World War. We’ll have a disco featuring the many genres of music brought to the UK from the Carribean: Reggae, Ska, Lover’s Rock, Calypso (the list goes on.) We’ll also look at the history and background of the windrush. Come to learn, celebrate and boogie.

🎦 Thursday 24th June, 6.30-7.30pm: Glastonbury Unplugged Live Lounge, Join your neighbours from around the UK for a special Cares Family Glastonbury Live Lounge! The world famous festival isn't going ahead this year, so let's come together for our own virtual festival and watch a live performance of Glastonbury Classics.
