Lauren Banks - Head of Programmes

Lauren oversees the programmes and manages the team at Manchester Cares. Previously Lauren worked as a freelance producer in the arts sector with a focus on socially engaged projects and events in and around Manchester.

Amy Saunders - Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator

Amy manages our growing volunteer network, and leads on reaching older neighbours in Manchester – introducing them to Manchester Cares and our programmes. Amy previously worked with mental health charity, Mind, as Fundraising and Marketing Coordinator, based in Tameside.

Heather Madden - Programme Coordinator (Social Clubs)

Heather manages the Social Clubs at Manchester Cares, leading on designing and delivering a varied programme of activities for our growing network of younger and older neighbours. Previously Heather has worked in a variety of engagement and community building roles across the charity and arts’ sector, most recently for a social change charity, working to get young people’s voices heard and supporting them to lead change.

Alex Khanyaghma - Development Coordinator

Alex supports individual donors, manages our fundraising events and cheers on Manchester Cares' challenge fundraisers. Previously Alex worked for a social integration charity, helping young people volunteer in Manchester.

Vicky Harrold - Programme Coordinator (Love Your Neighbour)

Vicky manages our Love Your Neighbour programme, which aims to create genuine, long lasting friendships through connecting younger and older neighbours. Previously Vicky trained as a Wellbeing Practitioner supporting people to overcome anxiety and depression, and previously designed and delivered programmes to connect young people in their communities.

Emily Quilter - Director of Development (The Cares Family)

Emily coordinates and manages the fundraising strategy for Manchester Cares and our sibling charities, North London Cares and South London Cares. Previously, Emily worked as Development Manager at charity Shakespeare Schools Festival.

Charlie Jamieson - Director of Progammes (The Cares Family)

Charlie coordinates our programmatic strategy at Manchester Cares and at our sibling charities Liverpool Cares, North London Cares and South London Cares.  Previously, she managed our business partnerships at North and South London Cares and prior to that, led the Social Clubs programme at South London Cares.

Alex Smith - Founder/Chief Executive (The Cares Family)

Alex is the founder and CEO of The Cares Family which is made up of Manchester Cares and sister charities North London Cares and South London Cares. He was formerly an aide to Labour Party leader Ed Miliband and editor of one of the biggest political websites in the UK. Alex has won multiple awards for creating The Cares Family and has been working to make Manchester Cares a reality since 2015.
