Ghosts busted – Thanks for coming!

On Tuesday 30th October, ghouls, ghosts and a host of monsters took over Colony in Ancoats for our Halloween fundraising party, Manchester Scares, to help tackle loneliness and isolation across our rapidly changing city.

There was lots of spooky fun to be had from face painting to trick or treat lucky dip and even a spooky cinema. She Choir Manchester performed an awesome set of contemporary classics and there was even a special performance by neighbour Charles (67) who entertained the crowd with a scary ‘stoem’ (a story/poem creation) written just for Manchester Scares. Here’s a short snippet:

We’d like to thank everyone for their support, especially Iberica Manchester, The Oast House, The Royal Exchange, HOME, Unicorn Grocery, Kimi at Waterstones and volunteer Sharlene for donating to our amazing raffle! And a big thanks to volunteer Des as official photographer.

The night raised an amazing £320 for our Winter Wellbeing project.

Between October and March, when the days are shorter and the weather is much colder, we intensify our Outreach and engage with some of the hardest to reach and most isolated neighbours. We provide fuel grants, warm goods (blankets, hats and scarves) and connection to vital services to help to keep our older neighbours happy, warm and connected during some of the hardest months of the year.

By supporting this event you have helped to fund 64 packages of warm goods for neighbours all across Manchester - THANK YOU!
