Manchester Cares' Social Clubs are group activities taking place throughout the week, offering older and younger neighbours the chance to share time, laughter and new experiences that help everyone to feel a part of our rapidly changing city, rather than left behind by it.
Clubs occur during week days, evenings and weekends and include 'Desert Island Discs' nights, pub quizzes, theatre trips, 'back to work' business visits and more. Our network suggests new activities, and brings skills and friends to the table to help make the clubs as engaging and exciting as possible.
Each club gives younger and older neighbours a chance to learn from one another, to laugh, to tell stories and to build the types of friendships and social networks that really matter in life.
We will always keep our social clubs as varied, fresh and exciting as we can for all participants. That means the programme will always be changing: in the summer, we might be hosting BBQs and picnics; in autumn, we could be putting on Halloween and Thanksgiving nights; in winter, we'll focus on cosy winter events; and in spring, we might be holding gardening sessions, Grand National Parties and Afternoon Teas.
Throughout the year, clubs bring the amazing changing people and places around us – and culture and content from all over the world – to the table for older and younger neighbours to enjoy together.
The social clubs is to create a space for older neighbours often with deep roots in Manchester, but few connections, to share time with young professionals often with hundreds of connections but no roots. That way, everyone can stay feeling valued, vibrant and visible.
To join our Social Clubs as a volunteer, please fill in the online sign up form at the bottom of this page – we'll then send you an invite to our next volunteer induction.
