Tell us a little about you and the challenge you’re taking on.
I’m a 22 year old student currently studying at Manchester Met University and working alongside my studies. I’m quite a social person so I love to be out and about, eating out and working at events such as festivals!
Me and my friend Lia are taking on the Rough Runner 5k in Finsbury Park on the weekend of the 8th/9th September! It’s a course that mixes a distance run with TV gold obstacles from programmes such as Total Wipeout, Takeshi’s Castle, Gladiators, and Fun House.
What inspired you to fundraise for Manchester Cares?
I really believe in the Mission of Manchester Cares, and I love how easy they make it to meet new people in the city through the social clubs. By funding a Social Club or 3, I’m helping those who are lonely have a way to meet people, and it feels worth braving the British weather for that.
How are you preparing for your challenge?
Me and Lia ran a Swap Shop event on Saturday 4th September at Jimmy’s Bar in Northern Quarter, we even had a special cocktail made! Also, we are fundraising via Virgin Giving, you can donate on our pages to help us reach our goal.
I’ve been trying to improve my cardio and get better physical state for the challenge. I’ve visited a gym, done a few runs, taken up yoga again and been out on the bicycle to at least try to get into a better state for the run! Still a long way to go yet, but least the ball is rolling.
What are you most looking forward to and most dreading about taking on this challenge?
I really enjoyed the Swap Shop. It was my first time ever running an event like it! I’m dreading the fun run though as I’m really not an active person so I’m very nervous to see how I cope with it!
What is your best riddle/joke?
You have me today,
Tomorrow you’ll have more,
As your time passess,
I’m not easy to store,
I don’t take up space,
But I’m only in one place,
I am what you saw,
But not what you see,
What am I?
Answer: Memories
