Tell us a little bit about you and the challenge you’re doing.
I’m George, 35, and I’m the Finance Director at HOME. I like going to gigs, playing football and golf, watching Manchester United and West Didsbury & Chorlton Football Clubs and also engaging in everything we do at HOME! I’ve also recently started reading the Harry Potter books for the first time.
What is your motivation for fundraising for Manchester Cares?
I’ve been a keen supporter of Manchester Cares from the start, I really believe in the work they do in reducing loneliness and isolation in both the young and old. By running the Manchester Half Marathon for them I hope to raise some money that can fund their fantastic events and keep bringing people together.
How are you preparing for your challenge?
I’m already doing a fair bit of running so will be keeping that up and (as the run gets nearer) reducing my beer and whisky intake!
What advice would you give to others about this experience?
Running is a great way to stay fit and improve your mental health. My big tips are stretching properly before and after runs and investing in some properly fitted running shoes.
What is your best riddle/joke to keep people entertained during their own training for a Manchester Cares challenge event?
What has four wheels and flies?
Answer: A rubbish truck
