1.1 We are Manchester Cares Ltd (referred to as "we", “us” and “Manchester Cares”) and we are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy when you are visiting any website maintained by us including without limitation the website at www.manchestercares.org.uk and our social networking pages (together the “Website”) or communicating electronically with us or taking part in any Manchester Cares activity.

1.2 This privacy notice explains what types of personal and non-personal information we collect when you use the Website and provide us with any information in the context of taking part in any Manchester Cares activity. This notice sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us.

By disclosing your personal information to us by using the Website or speaking to us over the telephone you consent to the collection, storage and processing of your personal information as stated in this notice.

1.4 Manchester Cares uses the personal information we collect from you to provide our service to you. We will not rent, sell or share your personal information with any other company for its own marketing purposes without your consent except where mentioned in this policy.

What personal information do we collect?

2.1 We may collect, store and use the following kinds of personal information:

  1. when you sign up to volunteer or to be part of the Manchester Cares network, you will be asked to complete a form which will give you the option to provide some or all of your name, address, date of birth, email address, telephone number, and certain other personal information about you to enable us to mobilise you to volunteer and to complete digital screening checks on you;
  2. when you contact us by email or telephone or through any contact form provided on the Website, or if you provide us with information when you take part in a Manchester Cares task we may ask you to provide some or all of the information set out in paragraph (a) above as well as any additional information required so that we can best assist you with your enquiry;
  3. we may collect, store and use information about your computer, mobile device or other item of hardware through which you access the Website and your visits to and use of the Website (including without limitation your IP address, geographical location, browser/platform type and version, Internet Service Provider, operating system, referral source/exit pages, length of visit, page views, website navigation and search terms that you use); and

2.2 We may also ask you to complete surveys and give feedback that we use for research purposes, although you do not have to respond to them.

2.3 If you choose to provide us with information on other people, or post information relating to other people, you must ensure that they have consented to you providing us with such information and our use of such information in accordance with this policy. By providing us with information on any other person, we are entitled to assume that such other person has consented to you providing us with their information and to us contacting them. Notwithstanding the previous sentence, if you have any concerns or issues with or about any other volunteer or older person with whom you interact as part of any Manchester Cares activity you must tell us your concerns and any further information necessary for us to take any steps necessary and practicable (in our sole and absolute discretion) to protect any person or prevent any harm to any person whether or not the person to whom the information relates has consented to such disclosure. You must not publish any such information online without our prior written consent.

How do we use personal information?

3.1 We may use your personal information for the following purposes:

  1. to manage and administer our core programmes and any Manchester Cares activities that you have agreed to participate;
  2. to enable you to use the Website;
  3. to deal with enquiries, complaints and feedback from you and people with whom you have interacted as part of your involvement with Manchester Cares;
  4. to provide third parties with statistical anonymised information about our users;
  5. to provide effective storytelling and marketing to enable us to achieve our charitable aims and develop the impact of our programmes;
  6. to send you emails; and
  7. to analyse and improve the services offered on the Website.

When might we disclose personal information?

4.1 We reserve the right to disclose your personal information to the extent required by any applicable law or governmental body or judicial body. In addition, we may from time to time provide limited anonymised information relating to your participation in our activities. Without limitation, we may disclose any information relating to your behaviour and any other information we consider in our sole and absolute discretion to be relevant where we believe that you have, or may in the future, commit any criminal offence in the context of your relationship with Manchester Cares.

4.2 We will use all reasonable endeavours to ensure that any person to whom we disclose confidential information is compliant with the Data Protection Act 1998 (or an equivalent standard) as regards its use and storage of your personal information. In particular, our contracts with product advertisers and third party providers state that they may use personal information relating to our customers disclosed to them by us solely for the purposes of providing services to our customers and that they may not disclose or otherwise use any such personal information for any other purpose.

Newsletters and other promotional communications

Where we store your personal data
